Chandigarh:

Chandigarh, the dream city of India's first Prime Minister, Sh. Jawahar Lal Nehru, was planned by the famous French architect Le Corbusier. Picturesquely located at the foothills of Shivaliks, the City is known for its urban planning and modern architecture in India. Chandigarh derives its name from the temple of "Chandi, the goddess of power and a fort of 'garh' lying beyond the temple gave the city its name "Chandigarh-The City Beautiful". As the capital of the states of Punjab and Haryana, the Union Territory of Chandigarh is a prestigious city. It is a rare epitome of modernization, co-existing with nature's preservation. It is here that the trees and plants are as much a part of the construction plans as the buildings and the roads.

After many changes in the nomenclature, the two separate programmes of BLibISc and MLibISc were merged to constitute a Two-Year Integrated Course leading to Masters of Library & Information Science from the academic session 2003-04.
